As stated by CNN
Ange Postecoglou took charge of Nottingham Forest at the end of the summer, but his spell at the club lasted only 39 days. After a 0-3 defeat to Chelsea, he was dismissed with immediate effect.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic manager failed to win any game during his brief stretch in charge, recording two draws and six defeats.
The Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that, after a string of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been dismissed from the role of head coach with immediate effect.
According to Opta data, this dismissal was the fastest in Premier League history, one day sooner than Les Reed’s departure from Charlton Athletic on the eve of Christmas 2006 after 40 days in charge of the club.
Sam Allardyce, who left Leeds United by mutual consent at the end of the 2022/23 season after 30 days in charge, is, according to Opta, the only permanent manager in league history to have endured an even shorter tenure.
Context of Events and Consequences
Postecoglou took charge of Forest after the departure of Nuno Espírito Santo, who had been at the helm for almost two years and led the club to seventh place in the 2024/25 season – the club’s highest league finish in 30 years.
The Portuguese manager, who had been a fan favorite among Nottingham supporters, was dismissed after three matches this season, shortly after telling the BBC that his relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis had changed.
The departure of Postecoglou means the club is now looking for its third manager of the season.
