António Costa Congratulates Moldova on Democratic Victory in Parliamentary Elections

The President of the European Council, António Costa, congratulated Moldova on the victory of democratic forces in the parliamentary elections. He expressed these words in a post on the social network X.

In the statement, he noted that the people of Moldova have spoken, and their message is clear and unambiguous: the choice is for democracy, reforms, and a European future, despite pressure and interference from Russia. The EU stands with Moldova at every step.

Victory and reaction to Moldova’s elections

According to the Central Election Commission, as of 11:25, 99.91% of the protocols have been processed, and the leader is the ruling pro-European force PAS (Action and Solidarity), founded by Maia Sandu, which has 50.16% of the votes.

In second place is the opposition Patriotic Electoral Bloc, among its leaders the former president Igor Dodon, who advocates closer ties with Russia. About 24.19% of voters voted for this bloc.

The pro-European party blocs “Alternative” with 7.97%; Renato Usatîi’s “Our Party” – 6.20%; the party “Democracy at Home” – 5.62% also pass to parliament.

In the new composition of Moldova’s parliament, the majority will be formed by forces oriented toward the country’s European course.
