As noted by Techcrunch
Last week Apple released the first beta version of iOS 26.2 (β1), which brings several updates: the ability to customize the Liquid Glass look for the watch face on the Lock Screen, an option to set alarms in the Reminders app, and live translation for users in the EU, as well as other improvements.
A public release of iOS 26.2 is expected around December.
The Liquid Glass setting has appeared on the Lock Screen watch face: a new slider lets you adjust opacity from nearly full transparency to a more matte look. The option to completely disable this mode remains as well.
Another major change is the ability to set alarms for reminders. When creating a reminder, the user can choose a time and enable the “Urgency” option, which will trigger the alarm at the specified moment. This feature has been requested by many to better stick to the schedule and not miss tasks.
Additionally, as part of the iOS 26.2 release, live translation via AirPods is expanding to EU countries. If the interlocutor speaks another language, Siri provides translation via AirPods. Initially this feature was available in the United States and in some other countries with iOS 26, but for the EU it became available with iOS 26.2 due to Digital Markets Act requirements.
Other changes
The Apple News app gets a new “Following” tab on the bottom navigation bar, where your favorite content, saved stories, and reading history are consolidated. New quick-access buttons to topics will also appear: Food, Politics, Puzzles, and Sports.
Apple Podcasts will also offer new capabilities, including AI-generated podcast sections. The “Podcast Mentions” feature has been introduced, enabling the platform to automatically add a link to another show in the episode description if the host mentions it during the episode.
Other changes include offline lyrics in Apple Music, allowing you to view lyrics even without an Internet connection. The iPhone screen can also flash when a notification is received; you can enable this option in Settings under Accessibility.
