As part of Serie A for the 2025/26 season, Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbik officially marked his debut goal for Roma in the match against Verona. Prior to this match, he had appeared in five games for the side, with one of those matches coming off the bench against Torino. In the clash with Verona, Dovbik started for the first time this season.
Goal-scoring debut and key moments
Dovbik’s lone goal came from a header off a cross by defender Zeki Celik in the seventh minute. The starting lineup gave the Ukrainian forward 60 minutes on the field, after which he was substituted by Evan Ferguson. In the match, Dovbik won four duels and delivered eight accurate passes from 13 attempts, which amounts to about 62% of his actions on the pitch.
The match ended in a Roma 2-0 victory. In the 79th minute, midfielder Matías Soule scored his second goal for the team after Dovbik left the field. In stoppage time, Verona forward Gift Orban fired a shot at goal, but after a VAR review the goal was ruled out.
Context of the goal and upcoming matches
This was Dovbik’s first goal since May 2025, when he scored against Fiorentina, which allowed Roma to win 1-0 in the league. The next clash for the Wolves is scheduled against the same opponent – Fiorentina – on Sunday, October 5. And ahead of that, in the Europa League, Roma will play Lille of France on Thursday, October 2.
Dovbik’s goal against Verona underscores his role in the starting lineup and remains a vital element of Roma’s attacking line for the 2025/26 season. A confident display in collaboration with his teammates and steady productivity could make him one of the key players on the Wolves’ path to success in Serie A and European fixtures.
