Blue Origin's New Glenn Rocket Second Launch Scheduled for November 9

As mentioned by Techcrunch

The space company Blue Origin, linked to Jeff Bezos, is finally ready to attempt the second flight of its heavy-lift rocket, the New Glenn.

The company said on Wednesday that the launch could take place as early as Sunday, November 9, from Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The first flight of New Glenn occurred in January and was largely successful: the second stage reached orbit, but the first stage exploded during re-entry to Earth, so a landing on the drone ship in the ocean could not be completed.

Planned second launch and its conditions

Earlier this year the company had said that the repeat launch was planned for “late spring,” but the schedule has repeatedly shifted.

This time the launch will be commercial in nature: on board will be cargo for paying customers, including NASA, with a pair of ESCAPADE instruments headed to Mars.

Also on board will be a technology demonstrator from Viasat.

This launch will be another step in the company’s plans to use heavy-lift rockets for commercial and scientific missions.
