In the Odessa region, law enforcement officers detained two brothers, one of whom is a minor, on suspicion of brutally beating a 76-year-old woman. According to the investigation, the perpetrators struck her on the head with their hands and a hammer, attempting to seize her pension.
On May 20, it became known that a social worker found the victim lying on the floor in her own home, covered in blood. The woman was urgently hospitalized with multiple head injuries.
Investigators established that the brothers, aged 24 and 17, broke into the woman’s house. The younger brother climbed through a window and then let the older brother in. They brutally beat the homeowner using a hammer found at the crime scene, causing the woman to lose consciousness.
After the attack, the perpetrators searched the house for money but found nothing and fled the crime scene. The brothers are suspected of robbery under part 4 of article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
They now face up to 15 years in prison with the possibility of property confiscation. The court has imposed a preventive measure on the suspects in the form of detention without the right to bail.
