Court Extends Detention for Suspect in Sharhorod Schoolchildren Murder Case

On November 6, in Vinnytsia City Court, the pre-trial restraint for a 23-year-old man suspected of murdering two schoolchildren in Sharhorod was extended.

The prosecution was represented by the head of the regional prosecutor’s office, Oleh Tkalenko. The defendant’s lawyers were Oleksandr Tsarapora and Vadym Tkachuk – they filed a power of attorney to represent his interests.

At the start of the session, the prosecutor requested a closed hearing; the defense and the suspect agreed. Presiding Judge Volodymyr Hrynevych granted the motion – the session took place in a closed format, and the pre-trial restraint was extended to December 10, 2025, with no right to post bail.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the investigation into the suspect’s guilt is currently underway. The suspect’s lawyer, Oleksandr Tsarapora, stated that his client fully admits guilt; no appeal is planned at this time.

What is known about the case: on September 10 in the center of Sharhorod, two students were found dead – 10th-grader Mykola Bilyk and 11th-grader Vladyslav Bevza. The suspect was detained seven kilometers from the scene of the death. The investigation is being conducted by the regional prosecutor’s office; later, another case was opened against the suspect for alleged minor bodily injuries to Mykola Bilyk, documented in April 2025.

The investigation continues under the supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office, and the court extended the pre-trial restraint until December 10, 2025.
