Deadly Attack on Mormon Church in Grand Blanc, Michigan

In the U.S. state of Michigan, a man got behind the wheel and crashed into the doors of a Mormon church in Grand Blanc, after which he opened fire with an assault rifle. According to police, one person was killed and at least nine were injured. Inside the building were hundreds of worshippers, and after the ram the building caught fire. Authorities do not rule out that there may be other victims among the rubble.

The attacker – a 40-year-old resident of Burton – died during a shootout with police, who quickly arrived on the scene. Governor Gretchen Whitmer called the event an unacceptable display of violence in a place of worship. U.S. President Donald Trump called the incident a deliberate attack on Christians in the United States and urged overcoming the epidemic of violence in the country. Firefighters and emergency services are working along the road, putting out the fire and responding to the aftermath of the shooting and the building’s collapse.
