At the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, on November 19, the premiere of the film “Dovzhenko. The Legend of Ukrainian Cinema” by Ukrainian director Kostyantyn Konovalov will take place.

Context and the upcoming Ukrainian premiere
The Ukrainian premiere will take place in 2026, marking the 100th anniversary of Oleksandr Dovzhenko’s first film.
They also report that in Finland, the diaspora held the festival “Ukrainian Film Days in Helsinki”.
It was noted that at the Marché du Film market within the 78th Cannes International Film Festival, a teaser presentation of the film “Dovzhenko” by director Konovalov took place.
The film transports the viewer to Odessa in 1926 – a city reviving after upheavals, living with jazz, ballet, boxing and big dreams of cinema. This is the story of young Oleksandr Dovzhenko, who arrives to create his first film.
The film is produced by Odessa Film Production in international cooperation with the support of the State Film Agency.
The film reveals the early history of Ukrainian cinema through the life and creative path of one of its founders.
