According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office
On July 5, a tragic incident occurred in the village of Odnorobivtsi in the Zolochiv community when a Russian drone struck a car carrying a family. As a result of the strike, an eight-year-old boy was killed, while his brother and father were injured, and the mother suffered a stress reaction.
The head of the Zolochiv community, Viktor Kovalenko, reported that the strike happened around 9:00 PM in Odnorobivtsi, which is located just eight kilometers from the Russian border. According to him, the affected family are residents of the village of Stohniy, but at the start of the war, they relocated to Odnorobivtsi as internally displaced persons.
“They had just come to visit relatives. And when they were leaving, the tragedy happened,”
The drone hit the rear part of the car, where the children were sitting, resulting in the boy’s death. His four-year-old brother sustained serious injuries, while the mother, who was seated in front, only experienced stress. The father, who was driving the car, was also injured. All three received medical care, and the father and four-year-old son were taken to a hospital in Kharkiv.
According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the four-year-old child was hospitalized with severe injuries, and the father’s condition is assessed as moderate.
Kovalenko noted that no forced evacuation of children was announced in Odnorobivtsi, only mandatory evacuation. “There are practically no children there; they left earlier on their own. FPV (drones) strike every day. Yesterday (July 5), there were strikes on the buildings of the former vocational school. Drones fly there constantly,” he added.
