“Saturday Night Live” is losing another longtime member of the cast.
Ego Nwodim announced her decision to leave the show on Friday, posting a message on social media.
The hardest part of a big show is figuring out when it’s time to say goodbye.
But after seven unforgettable seasons I have decided to leave SNL. I am incredibly grateful to Lorne for the opportunity, to my colleagues, writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship. Week after week on this stage has taught me more than I could have imagined, and I will always carry these memories and that laughter with me.
According to informed sources, representatives of the show did not comment.
The announcement came as part of a series of changes to the long-running late-night sketch show ahead of its 51st season.
Among the departures are Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, and Emil Wakim.
Changes in the lineup and the show’s future
Nwodim was one of the show’s leading performers, and earlier this year her viral sketch drew attention from viewers during the live broadcast.
She has also appeared in projects outside SNL, including the Netflix film “Little Brother” and the Peacock series “Poker Face”.
It was recently announced that Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Kalhein, Ben Marshall, Cam Patterson, and Veronica Slovikovska will join the show for the new season.
These changes open a new dynamic for the show’s 51st season, focusing on fresh looks and new faces during the strike period.
