As reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Telegram
In the night of November 6, explosions were heard in the occupied Crimea. According to local residents and monitoring channels, after drone flights over the Simferopol district, a massive fire broke out at an oil depot.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said it had shot down several drones over the peninsula. At the same time, the Telegram channel ‘Crimean Wind’ reported that around 02:30 a fire broke out at the Krymnaftozbut company in the Bitumne settlement area. Before that, witnesses recorded drone flights over Simferopol and other settlements.
The occupying authorities of the peninsula have not yet commented on the circumstances of the attack and the fire at the oil depot. The Krymnaftozbut company remains an important link in the occupied Crimea’s fuel infrastructure and specializes in wholesale trading of fuel, gas, and lubricants.
Timeline of strikes and context
According to Ukrainian defense authorities, on October 29 strike drones destroyed the Pantsir-S2 air defense system, two oil depots, and two radar stations in occupied Crimea. In the night of November 2, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that it had destroyed further Russian air defense facilities on the peninsula, including the command post of the S-400 ‘Triumf’ air defense division and the 92N6E radar station.
Such actions indicate increasing strikes against the peninsula’s critical infrastructure and a shift in the security balance in the region.
Current situation and implications
The occupying administration has not yet provided official explanations for the causes of the fire at the Bitumne oil depot and the nature of the strikes. The Krymnaftozbut company remains a key player in the peninsula’s fuel sector, engaged in wholesale trade of fuel, gas, and lubricants. The events of the past days underscore the vulnerability of the region’s energy infrastructure and the need for further clarification of the circumstances surrounding these incidents.
