France announced new arms deliveries to Ukraine: in the coming days the country will hand over Aster missiles and Mirage aircraft, while the United Kingdom will accelerate deliveries of more than 5,000 multirole missiles.
Following the Coalition meeting, the leaders of the two countries – Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer – confirmed their intentions, but without detailed explanations.
A New Phase of Deliveries from France and the United Kingdom
France has already delivered to Ukraine three Mirage 2000 aircraft out of the six promised, partly due to the needs of Ukrainian pilots in training. Aster 15 and Aster 30 missiles, developed in cooperation between France and Italy, are part of the SAMP/T Mamba system – the Franco-Italian surface-to-air missile system, similar in function to Patriot.
In the coming days we will deliver additional Aster missiles, new training programs, and new Mirage aircraft
The initiating country stressed the importance of continuing efforts to support Ukraine and strengthening pressure on Russia.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom said it would accelerate its delivery program:
«We are speeding up our British program to supply Ukraine with more than 5,000 multirole missiles. This program has created hundreds of good jobs in Belfast, and the team is now working to deliver 140 more missiles ahead of schedule to bolster Ukraine’s defenses this winter»
In addition, the British Prime Minister expressed support for U.S. sanctions against Russia’s largest energy companies.
«President Trump was right to impose sanctions on Russia’s oil giants, as Britain has done, and with the new EU sanctions package. We must keep up this pressure»
Such steps emphasize the close cooperation among allies in supporting Ukraine and strengthening its defense capabilities for the winter season.
