Germany Provides €40 Million Winter Aid to Support Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure

As ntv reports

Germany has announced additional aid to Ukraine for the winter – another 40 million euros, designated to support energy and heating infrastructure in response to Russian shelling. This statement was made by the head of Germany’s Foreign Ministry, Johann Wadeful.

“We are helping ensure warmth and light in homes, and that Russia’s deliberate terrorist attacks on civilian gas and heating supplies do not break the morale of the defenders of their homeland.”

– Johann Wadeful, head of Germany’s Foreign Ministry

These funds will be directed toward humanitarian measures: repairing heating systems, restoring destroyed houses, purchasing generators and essential goods (blankets and hygiene products).

Also, at the end of October, the German government announced a contribution of 60 million euros to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which provides the supply of generators, energy equipment, and mobile power plants.

Strengthening Energy Resilience for Winter

Disruptions to electricity and gas supplies caused by the armed conflict highlight the need for stable sources of heat. Germany’s new contributions are intended to support the population and critical infrastructure during the winter.
