This was reported by the Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT.
On June 19, about 100 people evacuated from Israel due to the escalating security situation in the region arrived in Vilnius. Among the evacuees were citizens of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. This information was confirmed by the Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT.
The evacuation process took place in several stages. Initially, three buses transported people from Tel Aviv to Aqaba Airport in Jordan, from where they later flew to Lithuania.
The departure of the evacuation flight was delayed several times due to aircraft maintenance and the complex aviation situation in the region. The total cost of the evacuation is estimated at around 200,000 euros, three-quarters of which will be covered by the European Union through the Civil Protection Mechanism, with the remainder funded by the Lithuanian government.
It is worth noting that on June 16, Slovakia also evacuated citizens of several countries from Jordan and Israel due to the worsening situation in the Middle East. In total, 73 people arrived in Slovakia. On June 17, the evacuation of citizens of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia from Israel began.
Additionally, on June 18, Poland evacuated the first group of people from Israel. Among about 160 passengers who reached Poland via Egypt were also Ukrainian citizens.
Israel’s Attack on Iran
On the night of June 13, the Israel Defense Forces launched an air operation against Iran’s nuclear program. The Israeli Air Force struck dozens of targets on Iranian territory, including facilities related to uranium enrichment and other military installations.
“The goal of the operation is to strike Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, its ballistic missile factories, and military capabilities.” The operation will continue as long as necessary until the mission is fully accomplished.
In response to the attack, Iran launched over 100 drones toward Israeli territory. Later, on June 13 and 14, Israel carried out new airstrikes on Iranian cities housing key defense facilities and military bases.
