Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combatting Antisemitism Amichai Shikli sharply criticized the election of New York’s new mayor – a 34-year-old Muslim Democrat Mamdani. He called him a Hamas supporter and urged Jews to leave the city.
According to Shikli, New York, which once symbolized universal freedom, handed the keys to power to a Hamas supporter.
“New York, which once symbolized universal freedom, handed the keys to power to a Hamas supporter.”
«Його позиція не така вже й далека від позиції фанатиків-джихадистів, які вбили три тисячі жителів Нью-Йорка 25 років тому»
“His stance is not that far from the position of jihadist fanatics who killed three thousand residents of New York 25 years ago”
«Нью-Йорк вже ніколи не буде колишнім, особливо для його єврейської громади» Він закликав її представників “серйозно замислитися про те, щоб зробити Землю Ізраїльську своїм новим домом”.
“New York will never be the same again, especially for its Jewish community”
«Нью-Йорк йде з відкритими очима у прірву, в яку занурився Лондон»
“New York is walking with its eyes wide open toward the abyss London has sunk into.”
Shikli’s position was also supported by Israel’s Minister of National Security and the leader of the ultra-right party “Jewish Power,” Itamar Ben-Gvir. About 1.3 million Jews live in New York, the largest Jewish community outside Israel.
During the campaign, Mamdani described the current government in Israel as an “apartheid regime” and the war in Gaza as a “genocide.” At the same time, as the media reports, he did not publicly speak about Hamas.
“Anti-Semitism has triumphed over common sense. Mamdani is a Hamas supporter, an enemy of Israel and an outright anti-Semite”
