Kharkiv Deputy Sentenced for Collaboration with Russian Occupiers

As stated in the verdict of the Osnovyansky District Court of Kharkiv dated June 6

In Kharkiv, a former deputy of the Kurylivka Village Council, located in the Kupiansk district, was sentenced to six years in prison. The investigation established that during the occupation in 2022, the woman voluntarily worked in the administration created by Russian military forces, where she headed a department and received her salary in rubles.

This information is confirmed by the verdict of the Osnoviansky District Court of Kharkiv, issued on June 6. It is known that the accused had been a deputy of the Kurylivka Village Council since December 2, 2020, and served as the secretary.

After the occupation of Kupiansk region, on July 1, 2022, the woman voluntarily took the position of “acting head of the administrative and economic support sector of the Kurylivka territorial department of the Temporary Civil Administration of the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region” in the occupation administration.

According to the investigation, this position involved performing organizational and managerial functions. The accused managed the work of a department with 11 employees.

At the court hearing, the woman partially admitted her guilt, explaining that she agreed to work in the occupation administration to support her family. She also noted that her workplace was in the same office as before, in the building of the Kurylivka Village Council.

At least eight colleagues of the convicted woman, who testified as witnesses, confirmed her work for the Russian occupiers.

The court found the woman guilty of voluntarily holding a position involving organizational and managerial or administrative and economic functions in illegal authorities established in the temporarily occupied territory. As a result, she was sentenced to six years in prison, deprived of the right to hold relevant positions in Ukraine for 10 years, and had all her property confiscated.

Additionally, the court ordered the accused to reimburse the state for court costs related to the handwriting examination in the amount of 6,685.50 hryvnias.
