Kyiv Region Hit by Russian Missile and Drone Attacks on September 28

Late on September 28, the Kyiv region is continuing to recover from the Russian attack. Three people remain in the region’s hospitals: two adults and one child. Their condition is stable and of moderate severity.

According to the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnik, the areas most affected are Petropavlivska Borshchahivka. Restoration work has been ongoing since dusk and continues today. To guard the scene and the damaged apartments, additional police units and patrols of public formations were on duty overnight.

DTEK crews have restored the electricity supply, and apartment-by-apartment connections for consumers are underway. Residents were issued more than 6,000 meters of film and 800 OSB boards for temporary window coverings. Also more than 116 vehicles were evacuated that hindered the clearance of debris. The roadway has been fully cleared for the work of heavy machinery.

According to Kalashnik, heating points continue to operate at the site. About 270 places have been prepared for temporary accommodation of the injured, but they were not used overnight. Local authorities continue to accept applications for compensation and material assistance; 537 applications have already been registered.

Impact and scope of the strike

In the night of September 28, Russia delivered a massive strike on the Kyiv region. According to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the region was hit by drones and cruise missiles. The most affected is Petropavlivska Borshchahivka in the Bucha district. In total, about thirty people were injured.

Additionally, the strike was carried out against Kyiv: according to preliminary data four people were killed, including one child, and more than ten were injured. Also, one woman could not withstand the stress and died in a shelter. More than twenty locations were affected, including the Institute of Cardiology.
