A 37-year-old resident of the Dnipropetrovsk region has been charged with illegal cannabis cultivation and possession of narcotic substances. According to the regional police, during a search in the village of Mala Petrykivka in the Dniprovskyi district, law enforcement officers found on the man’s home plot more than 20 cannabis plants, and in the house – nearly 800 grams of dried and ground cannabis.
He was charged under part 2 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal production, manufacture, procurement, storage, transportation or forwarding of narcotic substances without the intent to sell) and under part 1 of Article 310 (sowing or cultivation of opium poppy or cannabis). The maximum penalty for these articles is up to three years of imprisonment.
Case materials have been forwarded to the court. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement continues to establish the circumstances and, if necessary, may expand the scope of liability in accordance with the law.
