Moldova’s Pro-European PAS Party Wins Majority in Parliamentary Elections

According to Central Electoral Committee of Moldova

After processing 100% of the ballots, Moldova’s Central Election Commission officially confirmed the victory of the ruling pro-European party ‘Action and Solidarity’ (PAS) in the parliamentary elections. PAS garnered 50.20% of the voters’ votes.

In second place stood the opposition ‘Patriotic Electoral Bloc’, one of whose leaders is former president Igor Dodon; the bloc received 24.17% of the votes.

The following also won seats in Parliament: the pro-European parties’ bloc ‘Alternative’ – 7.96%; ‘Our Party’ of Renato Usatîi – 6.20%; the ‘Democracy at Home’ party – 5.62%.

In the new Parliament, the majority will be formed by forces oriented toward the European direction of the country’s development. Maia Sandu has already congratulated voters on the results and stressed the importance of pursuing a European course.

Earlier, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Moldova’s President Maia Sandu on the victory of the pro-European party and expressed his wishes regarding further cooperation.
