In Odesa, a nine-story building at 61 Seredniy Street sustained significant damage during the nighttime attack by Russian drones on July 3. According to the city’s mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, repairs will last until the end of October – the beginning of November, after which part of the apartments will be returned to the residents.
About a month or so – and we’ll finish. There will be a roof, and the residents on the right side of the entrance can return to their apartments. Up to the sixth floor – and the left side of the stairwell. By the end of October – the beginning of November we will be able to complete the work here
The mayor noted that for apartments that were completely destroyed, payments are provided through the ‘Євідновлення’ platform. The building has been stabilized: according to the latest inspection, the house is not moving and is not subject to further collapse.
“The glass flew out… In the kitchen, in the rooms, on the balcony – everything is damaged. No assistance. They gave 10,800 – and that’s all. Is this money?”
“There are people who have nowhere to live at all and it’s very hard. They come with hope, waiting to be able to return home. Neighbors took in the affected themselves because there was nowhere to go. Everyone came out, helped, cleared the debris”
“People always work here. There is a crane, tall towers. They heard panels being thrown from above. Large piles of building materials lay around – now they are gradually being dismantled”
Today the building is gradually being put in order, but residents hope for a full restoration and return to their homes in line with the planned scope of repairs and compensation for the damages.
On the night of July 3, Russian forces used attack drones against Odesa. As a result of the shelling, a multi-apartment residential building was damaged: some apartments were destroyed, others – with minor damage. Six people were injured, including two children.
As of today, investigations and restoration work at the scene continue. Residents and local authorities urge people to follow safety rules and to avoid further attacks.
In the city region, authorities continue monitoring the situation and coordinating recovery steps to minimize the impact on people’s lives and shorten the time to return to normal life.
