Oles Dovhyi, a People’s Deputy of Ukraine, announced his decision to resign from his parliamentary duties. He shared this information on June 18 on his Facebook page.
“I am leaving politics. I have submitted my resignation as a People’s Deputy.”
Dovhyi also emphasized that he does not intend to run for any positions in state authorities or local self-government. Instead, he plans to continue supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and engage in social and cultural projects.
“I believe in Ukraine, thank my family, friends, and team for their support! I value common sense and integrity!”
After his official resignation, the Verkhovna Rada will have 398 deputies remaining, as reported by his colleague Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Biographical Data of Oles Dovhyi
Oles Dovhyi was elected to the 9th convocation of the Verkhovna Rada in 2019 as a non-partisan self-nominated candidate from district 102 (Kirovohrad region). He is a non-affiliated deputy and a member of the Committee on National Health, Medical Care, and Medical Insurance.
Previously, he also served as a People’s Deputy in the 8th convocation, again as a non-partisan self-nominated candidate from the same district. During that time, he was part of the “People’s Will” deputy group and served as deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Policy.
Dovhyi also attempted to enter parliament in the 7th convocation as a non-partisan self-nominated candidate from district 214 (Kyiv city).
In the 2006 local elections, he was elected to the Kyiv City Council from the “Leonid Chernovetskyi Bloc” and became deputy chairman – secretary of the Kyiv City Council. In 2008, he was re-elected as a deputy and secretary of the Kyiv City Council, but in 2011 he resigned from the secretary position and became a member of the Kyiv City Council commission on budget and socio-economic development.
Oles Dovhyi was born on November 1, 1980, in Kyiv. His father, Stanislav Dovhyi, was a People’s Deputy of the 4th to 6th convocations and a scientist, while his mother, Larysa Dovha, is a professor at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Analysis of Parliamentary Activity
In May 2025, analyst Sofia Lazarova from the “Chesno” Movement conducted an analysis of Oles Dovhyi’s legislative activity. According to her, he ranks seventh in the anti-rating of “session absentees” in the Verkhovna Rada.
By the end of March 2025, the deputy missed 71% of votes due to absence and did not participate in another 8% of votes despite being registered at the session. Similar activity was observed during his work in the 8th convocation.
Dovhyi explained his absences by stating that since February 2022 he has been actively assisting the territorial defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He also noted that he participates in parliamentary sessions where key national initiatives are considered, including the ratification of the subsoil agreement between Ukraine and the USA.
