As reported by Office of the President
Since its inception, the Olena Zelenska Foundation has provided humanitarian aid to more than 600 large foster families.
This was reported by the Office of the President following the first lady’s visit with the foundation’s team and partners to large foster families in the Poltava region, according to Ukrinform.
As Zelenska noted, humanitarian aid for large foster families is an example of how high-quality support can change the lives of entire families.
This is one of the Foundation’s areas of work, because we strive for every child to have a home, care and the opportunity to develop. It is important for us not only to respond to urgent needs, but also to create stable conditions in which children grow up in love, safety and support. Thanks to such partnerships and joint initiatives, more than 600 families have already received the necessary humanitarian aid
Humanitarian Support and Initiatives
During the first lady’s visit, together with the foundation’s team and the head of UNICEF’s Representation in Ukraine, Munir Mamadzade, they visited Olena Husarenko’s family, in which nine children are being raised. For this family a house was purchased with funds from a state subvention, and the foundation together with UNICEF helps to outfit it within the initiative “From House to Home.”
As part of the initiative, the needs of 105 large foster families have already been identified. All families whose housing will be purchased by the end of the year using the subvention funds will receive support. The project is being implemented with the support of the governments of Poland and Germany and UNICEF national committees.
UNICEF is proud to collaborate with the Olena Zelenska Foundation, helping to transform houses into true homes and to create warm, stable and caring conditions for those who need them most
This autumn, the Foundation provided humanitarian aid to 32 large foster families in the Poltava region with the support of the Czech company MND Group.
The First Lady, together with Czech partners and the representative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine, visited another large foster family – Grigory and Natalia Pichkur – and handed over household appliances and gadgets needed for study and daily needs.
According to Ukrinform, over three years of work by the Olena Zelenska Foundation, 17 houses have been built for large foster families.
