On November 5, protests in Serbia in support of the government and President Aleksandar Vučić took place. In Belgrade, more than 10 thousand people took to the march, and this was recorded in local reports.

The demonstration was a response to anti-government and anti-corruption actions that took place on November 1, the anniversary of the tragedy at the Novi Sad railway station.

Supporters of the president gathered near the tents, nearby were student protesters and the mother of one of the victims of the fatal collapse of the station’s roof, who is currently hunger-striking in Belgrade.

Timeline of events and the response of the security forces

A representative delegation from the authorities emerged at the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabić.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, walked along the tent encampment, while the president’s supporters continued the rally alongside young participants and students.

Earlier, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated the intention to hold parliamentary elections ahead of schedule. He added that the specific deadline would be determined by competent institutions in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Serbia.

This event underscores the tension in Serbia’s political landscape and could influence the country’s future political process.
