Polish PM Donald Tusk on Ukraine's War Readiness and Cybersecurity Threats

As reported by hromadske.

The Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, during a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, spoke about the Ukrainian leader’s words that allegedly confirm Ukraine’s readiness to continue the war with Russia for another two to three years. Tusk gave an interview on this topic to a British publication.

«President Zelensky told me that he hopes the war will not last ten years, but Ukraine is prepared to fight for another two to three years»

– Donald Tusk

According to Tusk, the Russian economy is facing “dramatic” problems, reinforced by new sanctions imposed by the United States, and has no chance of surviving in the long term. He is also not sure how stable the United States’ sanctions approach toward Moscow will prove to be.

“The Russians are in a truly deep [economic] crisis. Does this mean we can say that we are winning? Not at all. They have one great advantage over the West, especially Europe: they are willing to fight… in wartime this is an absolutely decisive issue,” he adds.

Tusk urged Britain not to live in a “sweet illusion” that it will be saved in the event of a war between NATO and Russia, for “the threat is global and universal, primarily because of technology.”

«You and we are already experiencing massive attacks in cyberspace. In Poland, they are ready to destroy the cyberinfrastructure [which is the backbone] of our railways, our hospitals. This could be very painful. That is why you cannot live in this sweet illusion that you are too far from them, that this is not your war, it is just Ukraine or Poland»

– Donald Tusk

At the heart of the discussion is a realistic view of the challenges facing Eastern European countries and their allies. Tusk emphasizes the need for careful attention to threats in military and cyber space and the importance of close coordination between Europe and its security partners.
