Russian Drone Attacks Injure Civilians and Firefighters in Nizhyn District

On September 14, in the Nizhyn district, a series of attacks by Russian drones was recorded, resulting in injuries to a 59-year-old resident of one of the villages. Overall, nine drone strikes were registered in the district for the day.

According to the Department of Civil Protection and Defense Activities of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, a man born in 1966 sustained injuries. He was hospitalized at the Nizhyn Central City Hospital; a residential building was also damaged.

Timeline of events and consequences

According to the regional administration, in the Nizhyn district there were six Shahed-type UAV hits, two of an unidentified type, and one Geran-2.

On September 14, the city of Nizhyn was under attack from Russian drones for most of the day. In the morning, the wreckage of a downed Shahed fell in the city center.

Subsequently, on the outskirts, Russian drones struck two critical infrastructure facilities in Nizhyn. At around 16:20, a strike occurred at a private enterprise on the outskirts of the city, and around 18:20 – there were subsequent explosions. As a result, Prilutska Street was partially de-energized.

After 23:00, four rescuers were injured while extinguishing the fire after a drone strike on a private company dealing with fuel materials and on a neighboring gas station. Three firefighters were attacked during firefighting, and one was poisoned.

The situation in the region is under control; civil protection measures continue and investigations into incidents related to the use of drones are ongoing.
