As told by the commander of the artillery reconnaissance division of the separate artillery brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine Vitaliy Lytvyn during the broadcast of the telemarathon “United News”
Currently, the Russian armed forces are actively developing a bridgehead in the “triangle” of the settlements Malynivka, Novooleynivka, and Popiv Yar, located in the Pokrovske direction. This was reported by Vitaliy Lytvyn, commander of the artillery reconnaissance division of a separate artillery brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, during the “United News” telemarathon on July 5.
According to the map as of July 5, 2025, these settlements hold strategic significance. Lytvyn noted that the enemy is trying to control the logistics routes to the cities of Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk from this area, aiming to complicate the supply of ammunition and the evacuation of the wounded.
“From here, the enemy tries to control logistics to the settlements of Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk; they want to cut off logistics so that we cannot deliver ammunition, and it becomes difficult for us to evacuate the wounded. The enemy strikes medical vehicles with drones; if we use robotic systems to evacuate the wounded, the enemy targets the injured.”
The commander also emphasized that over the past eight months, there has been a high intensity of assault operations in the Pokrovske direction. A single assault by Russian forces can last an entire day.
“Russian troops use mobile equipment to approach our positions and tactical aviation – the enemy can deliver up to three simultaneous airstrikes with guided bombs on a single settlement. The enemy fires artillery at our frontline and constantly assaults, using motorcycles, buggies, and motorcycles so that we cannot detect and strike them with drones.”
Also, during the “United News” telemarathon on July 5, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the operational-strategic grouping of troops “Khortytsia,” noted that Russian forces are attempting to break through in the Pokrovske direction, moving north of the highway toward Kostiantynivka.
