As reported by Facebook of the Center for Countering Disinformation
The Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council warns of a possible provocation by Russia at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The information was published through official posts on social media.
The message states that the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service claimed: “The West is preparing to blame Moscow” for a possible accident at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, and adds that “crowds allegedly call on Kyiv to carry out sabotage at the Zaporizhzhia NPP with casualties among Ukrainians and residents of EU countries”.
“The West is preparing to blame Moscow” for a possible accident at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, and “crowds allegedly call on Kyiv to carry out sabotage at the Zaporizhzhia NPP with casualties among Ukrainians and residents of EU countries”.
Such accusations do not reflect reality and may indicate that Russia is preparing its own provocation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. The center emphasized that the main goal of such statements is to intimidate the population of Ukraine and the citizens of EU countries.
Russian security services traditionally disseminate such warnings to create the necessary information background: to blame Ukraine or the West for provocations, in order to shift responsibility for their own actions onto other forces. Such “prophecies” have been documented before – none of them has been confirmed.
The responsibility for the safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP lies with Russia, as it is the one that captured the plant, placed military equipment on its territory, and is exerting pressure on the personnel.
The Zaporizhzhia NPP has been in a blackout since September 23 for about a month.
