Soviet-themed art installation in Alley of Heavenly Hundred draws criticism on social media
Soviet-style decorations for a festive performance are being set up on Independence Square in Kyiv.

The new ‘Soviet-styled’ art installation in Kyiv centre  raised eybrows on social media. The art objects reminiscent of Soviet regime times were set up at Heavenly Hundred Memorial cite dedicated to Maydan events heroes, wrote journalist Bohdan Kutepov in a scathing post on social media.

The decorations on display feature street soda vending machines, a children’s toy car and an ice cream fridge. There are also replicas of housing with Soviet-style decorations and furniture.

 

 

The story was met with criticism from social media users with people calling it ‘disgusting’ and ‘crass’.
