Ukrainian basketball player Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk set a new NBA career high, scoring 28 points in a game against the Detroit Pistons as part of the Utah Jazz during the 2025/26 season. At that time he had played nine games for the Salt Lake City-based club.
Utah entered the game with a 3-4 record. The meeting with Detroit ended in a Jazz loss – 103-114, but for Mykhailiuk this game was the most productive of his career.
How did the game go for Sviatoslav? He started in the starting five and played 36 minutes – the same amount of time he logged in the previous game against Phoenix, which was the best mark of the season. In 36 minutes on the floor, Mykhailiuk scored 28 points – this is his best result of both the current season and his career; his previous maximum was 27 points scored last season in a game against Oklahoma City.
18 of his 28 points were from beyond the arc. The Ukrainian added six three-pointers to his tally – the three-point shooting from deep was 54.5%. This achievement allowed him to repeat his start-of-last-season performance in the game against the Portland Trail Blazers, where there were also six three-pointers.
In total, Mykhailiuk went 10 of 16 from the field, grabbed two rebounds, and converted four of five two-point attempts. He was Utah’s top scorer in the matchup, finishing ahead of center Lauri Markkanen (25 points) and guard George Keonte (19 points).
