On Monday, September 29, Sweden officially announced the allocation to Ukraine of a new winter humanitarian package worth 1.1 billion Swedish kronor. The information was published by the Swedish Embassy in Ukraine on the social network X.
According to the statement, the funds are directed toward the country’s most urgent needs: energy supply, infrastructure reconstruction, demining, and other priorities.
We must strengthen Ukraine’s resilience in every possible way
According to the Swedish government, the package is intended to provide support for energy supply, housing, healthcare, demining, assistance to refugees, and independent media.
The detailed breakdown of funds: 450 million kronor will be allocated to energy provision and repair of infrastructure during the winter; 385 million – the World Bank’s URTF for restoring energy and housing infrastructure, supporting refugees, and modernizing public services; 100 million – for demining work and the restoration of mined areas; 30 million – support for independent Ukrainian media; 25 million – to strengthen the justice sector; 10 million – training in logistics and transportation to improve the labor market.
In addition, the package includes essential humanitarian needs: food, housing, emergency assistance, and heating to preserve living conditions for the population during the winter period.
The expected impact of the new financial measures is to strengthen community stability and ensure the delivery of critical services during the cold season, while also supporting broader humanitarian and infrastructure-related initiatives in Ukraine.
