According to media reports Reuters
Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced that his country would transfer radars and counter-drone systems to Denmark. The decision was made in the wake of a series of drone-related incidents that temporarily closed some Danish airports, and with security tightened ahead of European summits in Copenhagen.
According to Kristersson, Sweden will provide counter-UAV systems, and in the run-up to this Denmark had already received several radar systems.
Additionally, at Copenhagen’s request, Swedish and Norwegian law enforcement officers will be deployed to assist with security in the Danish capital.
In the context of the events, France is expected to participate, potentially sending a military Fennec helicopter and a group of 35 specialists to address drone-related matters, while Germany is likely to send around 40 soldiers to detect, identify, and counter UAVs.
Denmark has already stepped up security measures during these events following drone incursions.
Regarding previous breaches of Danish airspace by drones: on the evening of September 22, Danish and Norwegian police reported drone incidents in Copenhagen and Oslo. In Copenhagen, traffic at the largest airport, Kastrup, was completely halted due to the appearance of 2–3 large drones. At least 35 flights were diverted to other airports, passenger aircraft circled in the sky, and one plane made an emergency landing due to fuel shortages. The airport resumed operations around 01:00 after a four-hour shutdown. Aalborg Airport in northern Denmark was closed overnight from September 24 to 25 because of drones in its airspace.
this is clearly not a coincidence
As part of a broader NATO and EU response to airspace threats, Denmark is also engaging allies to bolster defense during drone-related activities.
This coordination among European countries underscores the growing role of joint measures to secure airspace and the readiness to respond quickly to new threats.
The provision of radar systems and counter-drone capabilities between Sweden and Denmark reflects the growing interaction of the Baltic region with other allies. Such steps strengthen the readiness of response services in crisis situations and reduce risks to civil aviation and infrastructure, especially during major international summits in Europe.
