The Ternopil Regional Art Museum has received back the icon “Christ Pantocrator,” which was created by an unknown master in the Slobozhanshchyna region. This information was announced by representatives of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Regional Military Administration.
The icon was confiscated from a passenger on the “Kyiv – Przemyśl” train.
“A Canadian citizen attempted to illegally export a Ukrainian icon in November 2023 through the ‘Mostyska – railway’ customs post,”
This “Christ Pantocrator” icon has been preserved in excellent condition, adorned with an elegant metal cover that reflects the traditions of Ukrainian Baroque art.
“According to the expert assessment, the icon’s value exceeds 10,000 hryvnias and represents historical and cultural significance,”
