Timothy Mellon Donates $130 Million to US Military Salaries Amid Shutdown

U.S. President Trump announced an anonymous benefactor who donated $130 million to pay military salaries during the government shutdown. According to unofficial sources, the donor turned out to be the financial sponsor of Donald Trump and the Republican Party – billionaire Timothy Mellon. The information has not yet been officially confirmed publicly.

According to materials, Mellon began supporting the Republican Party during Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, with at least $50 million directed toward financing the campaign. This is one of the largest single donations in recent years.

The Department of Defense said the donation was accepted in accordance with the general rules regarding gifts.

The donation was made on the condition that it would be used to offset the costs of salaries and benefits for service members
