Toretsk Front: 60,000 Russian Losses Amid Minimal Advances Over 14 Months

According to General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In the Toretsk direction, for more than 14 months of active fighting, the Russian forces have suffered about 60 thousand casualties among personnel. Despite significant resources, the attackers’ advance remains weak compared to expectations due to the constant resilience of Ukrainian forces and the high level of defensive activity.

On the air on September 28, the press officer of the 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade, Serhiy Khominsky, laid out the details of the situation at the front and conveyed the circumstances from the battlefield.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the previous day on the Toretsk direction they recorded 14 attacks near Oleksandro-Shultynogo, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Yablunivka and Rusynyi Yar. At the same time, the enemy continued assault actions toward Kostyantynivka, attempting to break through the defense.

The troops of the 100th Brigade are holding their positions and have defended this sector for more than 14 months.

What we are doing right now is slowing the enemy’s advance toward Kostiantynivka and not letting these deluded dreams come true

– Serhiy Khominsky

According to the press officer, the enemy’s losses amount to about 60,000 personnel. He added:

“If we speak about any enemy advances in the brigade’s area of responsibility over these past 14 months, they have been minimal and incomparable with the losses the enemy suffers. We constantly update these losses, but now we can say that the enemy’s total losses in this direction are approaching 60,000 personnel”

Despite the losses, the occupiers continue to reinforce reserves and attack the positions of the defense forces, aiming to push their advance and reach the boundary of the Kostyantynivka and Kramatorsk agglomerations.

According to the military, the enemy “is paving the road with corpses” to preserve any chance of advancing. At the same time, they are directing new units into battle, using them as cannon fodder in a bid for a further assault.

Context of events in Donbas

Analysts and military experts note concern along the front line in the Donetsk region: fighting remains highly intense, losses are rising, but Ukrainian forces continue to hold the defense and maintain control over key directions.
