According to National Hurricane Center (NHC)
In the open Atlantic Ocean, two strong systems have formed – tropical storm Imelda and hurricane Humberto. According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC), they continue to intensify and pose a serious threat to the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the eastern coast of the United States.
Imelda is bringing heavy rains and gusty winds. Forecasters warn of a risk of flooding in low-lying areas and potential power outages. NHC maps show that the storm’s area of influence covers large portions of the Caribbean Basin.
Meanwhile Humberto is strengthening and is already considered more dangerous in terms of wind speed and scale. It is moving toward Bermuda and could bring a sharp rise in sea level and strong winds. Forecasts indicate the strongest impacts are expected near the coast, where authorities urge residents to closely monitor official warnings and be prepared to evacuate.
The NHC emphasizes that tracks of tropical cyclones remain unpredictable, and their intensity can change. Therefore, island and coastal residents are advised to closely monitor updates and follow the guidance of local services.
It’s also wise to plan ahead: stock up on water and food, ensure you have lighting and fully charged devices, gather documents and other essential items. Official agencies continue to monitor the situation and will prepare the population for possible changes in the progression of events.
Heavy rainfall, rising sea levels, and strong wind gusts are expected along the coastline, which could lead to flooding of low-lying areas and damage to infrastructure. An additional danger remains power outages and transportation restrictions due to the storm.
Stay informed with official notices, monitor weather updates, and follow the instructions of local authorities. Stock up on water and food for several days, prepare lighting and charging devices, pack documents and essential items. Move vehicles to safe locations or away from flood-prone areas, develop an evacuation plan, and be ready to act on government directives.
