As reported by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio
U.S. President Donald Trump, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, may meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky next week. The information came as Rubio arrived in Israel on September 16.
According to Rubio, Trump has had several conversations with Putin and several meetings with Zelensky, notably they expect a new meeting next week in New York during the UN General Assembly.
«Trump will continue to try to end the war. If peace is possible, he wants to achieve it. At some point the president may come to the conclusion that it is impossible. He has not reached that point yet, but he may»
Context and previous meetings
The last personal meeting between Zelensky and Trump occurred on August 17, 2025, during a gathering of European officials at the White House, when they spoke after Trump’s summit with Putin in Alaska.
