As noted by the AUGB Edinburgh Facebook page
The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain in Scotland’s Edinburgh (AUGB Edinburgh) and the Pro100 Ukrainian Saturday School have announced the launch of a new charitable fundraising campaign for Ukrainian troops.
According to an official post on AUGB Edinburgh’s Facebook page, the initiative aims to provide defenders with the most needed items during the cold season. The organizers, who last year activated the “Shoe Box” campaign, this time are collecting monetary donations to buy the necessary items directly in Ukraine. This decision will allow help to be delivered to the front as quickly as possible.
“Now that it is getting cold in Ukraine, our warriors are often on the front lines without heat, without electricity, in the rain and snow. We can give them a piece of our warmth and love”
Where the collected aid will go
The funds raised will go toward purchasing power banks, hand warmers, thermal underwear, and medicines.
An especially notable part of the initiative is engaging children: each child from Pro100 Ukrainian Saturday School can personally make a small talisman and/or write a letter to a warrior.
In the letters, the children thank the defenders, wish warmth and peace, and express a shared belief in Ukraine’s victory.
“Every hryvnia, every word and every talisman is a ray of love that will fly straight to those who defend us. Together we do good deeds, because we are one big Pro100 family”
In the Scottish city of Glasgow, a “Book of Remembrance” has been created to commemorate the names of fallen Ukrainian soldiers, and after the end of the war a memorial cross will be erected in their honor.
