During a working visit to Latvia, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal discussed with his Latvian colleagues the issue of supplying Ukraine with the necessary weapons. The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense’s press service, which quotes these words after the meeting with Latvian partners.

Key Topics of the Meeting
The government official shared his experience in building a multi-layered air defense and expressed readiness for closer exchange of knowledge with Latvia’s armed forces. The negotiators also called for strengthening the air-defense system, protecting critical infrastructure, economic support, sanctions pressure, and the confiscation of Russian assets. Joint defense projects were also discussed, particularly within the SAFE initiative.
“Once again, I have been convinced of the unwavering stance of our friends. Latvia is a leader and participant in all initiatives in support of Ukraine. I am grateful that Latvia stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine.”
The development of defense-industrial cooperation between the two countries was also noted. According to the agency, the defense ministers of Ukraine and Latvia signed a memorandum that codifies joint steps in this area. Such agreements are viewed as an important step on the path to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and deepening partnership with the Baltic states.
