Commemorative coin “Forces of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”. NBU

As reported by press service of the National Bank of Ukraine

On September 30, 2025, the National Bank of Ukraine announced the introduction into circulation of a new commemorative coin dedicated to the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The issue was presented on the eve of Defender of Ukraine Day, celebrated on October 1.

According to the NBU’s press service, the coin continues the series dedicated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, highlighting the contributions of service members whose work focuses on innovation, technological advantages, and the intellect of the modern Ukrainian military.

Design and Technical Characteristics

The coin has a denomination of 10 hryvnias and is minted from a zinc alloy with a nickel coating. The obverse repeats the layout of the 10-hryvnia circulating coin of 2018: in the center, within an ornate frame, are the denomination, the year of minting, and the State Emblem of Ukraine.

The main element of the reverse is the emblem of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: a stylized steel swallow, symbolizing the unit’s technological sophistication, speed, and adaptability. The reverse’s background is complemented by stylized air currents, emphasizing the dynamism and stealth of unmanned systems.

Around the edge of the coin are the inscriptions FORCES OF UNMANNED SYSTEMS OF THE ARMED FORCES OF UKRAINE at the top and the motto OUR WEAPON IS INTELLIGENCE at the bottom. The reverse design was created by Tetiana Baluta, the obverse by Volodymyr Dem’yanenko.

Circulation, Availability and Sale of the Coin Roll

As with other circulating coins of Ukraine, this commemorative coin is legal tender for all cash payments and for credits to accounts.

The National Bank plans to supply banks and companies involved in retail coin sales with such a coin for further distribution to customers. It is expected that around 10 million coins will enter circulation.

Part of the edition will be issued in specially packaged rolls, each containing 25 coins. The souvenir paper wrapping the roll features a stylized steel swallow and the emblem of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against a background of air flows. The total run of the rolls is 20,000 pieces.

Purchasing a roll of 25 coins can begin on October 2, 2025: 12,000 rolls will be available in the NBU’s online numismatic shop, as well as through distributor banks. The full list of available sales points is posted on the regulator’s official page.

This issue underscores the significant role of the Unmanned Systems Forces in Ukraine’s modern defense and reflects the National Bank’s commitment to supporting and developing interest in Ukrainian numismatics among the public and collectors.
