The Ukrainian Paralympic track and field team began the 2025 World Championships in New Delhi with an impressive start: in the first two days, Ukrainians won four medals, including one gold.
The competition is under way in India from September 27, and the team has already demonstrated a high level of preparation and the ability to compete on the world stage, confirming their achievements on global tracks and arenas.
The first gold medal was won by Natalia Kobzar in the 400-meter dash in the T37 class. She is the reigning Paralympic champion and also has silver medals in the 200 meters (2024) and the 400 meters (2020).
In the same discipline, the 400 meters in the T20 class, Ukraine was represented by Yulia Shuliar, who earned bronze at the 2025 World Championships. This is Shuliar’s third world medal in this distance at world events (after silver in 2019 and 2023).
In shot put, F12 class, Ukraine was represented by Volodymyr Ponomarenko, who earned the silver medal at the World Championships. This marks the athlete’s second world medal at the World Championships after the silver in 2023.
Zoya Ovsiy in the discus, F53 class, also won silver at the World Championships – this is the para-athlete’s seventh World Championship medal, with three gold medals and two bronze medals to her name.
After two days, Ukraine continues to compete at the event, hoping for further successes and to rack up even more medals before the championship concludes.
