As reported by Ministry of Defense of Ukraine
In the mobile app “Reserve+” some users have seen a new VOS-999 badge indicating the need to undergo basic general military training (BGMT). According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the badge does not entail fines and no action is required. This clarification was published on the evening of September 17.
In the electronic military registration document of some citizens, the VOS-999 badge has also begun to appear, indicating the reserve-duty specialty that those who have not yet served or undergone training receive. These marks are part of the record-keeping system and serve as a tool for operational planning.
The content of the marks in the registries allows the state to assess the number of those liable for military service who, if needed, may be required to undergo the BGMT course during conscription and mobilization measures.
No action is required specifically for the new VOS-999 badge in “Reserve+”.
What is known about “Reserve+”
Last year, after the updated mobilization bill came into effect, the mobile app “Reserve+” for those liable for military service, draftees, and reservists went live. The app is available for download on smartphones via App Store and Google Play Market.
“Reserve+” provides the ability to promptly update data and access information from the Oberig registry. This is a convenient way to quickly update personal data and check the current information in the registry.
In particular, after updating data in the app, users can see information from the Oberig registry about themselves. In the period from May 18 to July 16, 2024 – in accordance with the new mobilization law – more than 4.6 million individuals liable for military service updated their military-registration data.
The app also provides features to upload up-to-date booking data to the electronic military registration document, to change personal data in the Oberig registry, to apply for mobilization deferment, to pay fines and other record-keeping mechanisms.
Overall, the VOS-999 badge is strictly informational: it helps the state better prepare for mobilization measures, without restricting users’ rights and without imposing sanctions.
