As reported by online media Suspilne.
This week Ukraine faced two major events at once: the festive atmosphere in Uman for Rosh Hashanah for Hasidic pilgrims and rocket strikes on Zaporizhzhia, reminding us of the war’s crisis character. In our photo digest we have gathered frames from seven days: from temple prayers to the destruction in the city.
Uman hosted thousands of guests from different countries who arrived to celebrate Rosh Hashanah according to the lunar calendar and its traditions. A high level of responsibility, proper security, and calm cooperation between authorities, volunteers and pilgrims ensured the safety of the celebration and the comfort for worshippers and local residents.
While festive activities continued in the center of the country, reports of rocket strikes came in from Zaporizhzhia. The city sustained infrastructure damage, but emergency services and volunteers worked on restoration and providing aid to residents.
A Week in Photos: Key Moments
Uman in frames – bright faces during prayer, the glow of festive lights, and traditional rites that create an atmosphere of harmony and joy among pilgrims and local residents.
In Zaporizhzhia – the frames capture the consequences of the shelling: shattered windows, hushed streets and the prompt work of emergency services. At the same time – volunteer hubs and mutual-aid initiatives that support the affected and help people cope with the consequences of the destruction.
Summing up the week in photo materials, the editors emphasize the resilience of Ukrainians and their willingness to help each other even in times of trial, which speaks to a strong civic community and the unity of the country.
