Ukraine’s Week in Photos: Rosh Hashanah Festivities and Zaporizhzhia Attacks

This week Ukraine faced two major events at once: the festive atmosphere in Uman for Rosh Hashanah for Hasidic pilgrims and rocket strikes on Zaporizhzhia, reminding us of the war’s crisis character. Uman hosted thousands of guests from different countries who arrived to celebrate Rosh Hashanah according to the lunar calendar and its traditions. A high level of responsibility, proper security, and calm cooperation between authorities, volunteers and pilgrims ensured the safety of the celebration and the comfort for worshippers and local residents.

While festive activities continued in the center of the country, reports of rocket strikes came in from Zaporizhzhia. The city sustained infrastructure damage, but emergency services and volunteers worked on restoration and providing aid to residents.
