Ukraine to Resume Geological Exploration in 2026 with Global Partners

According to the online media Ukrinform.

In 2026, Ukraine plans to resume geological exploration with the involvement of international partners.

Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Yegor Perelygin told Ukrinform in a comment.

Plans for Restoring Geological Exploration and Partnerships

“I won’t even say when Ukraine last conducted geological exploration with budget funds, certainly more than 10 years ago. But next year we are returning geological exploration under the budget program. We are bringing partners into this process – Americans, Germans, Canadians, and Britons are very interested.”

He noted that already now, despite the active hostilities, one can start with known ore manifestations dating back to the Soviet era, so as not to waste time.

“We understand that we cannot fly, say, with LiDAR radar. But we have hundreds of locations of ore deposits already identified. We can go there with drilling rigs, equipment and start working. When the war ends there will be LiDAR scanning, GIS, and other technologies. But there is no need to waste time; we must begin. The main thing is to take the first step.”

Additionally: Ukraine and Canada are launching joint work in geology and subsoil use.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure for implementing the agreements on the creation of the American-Ukrainian Investment Fund for Reconstruction, which opens the way to actively attract investments.

The document defines the investors’ operating procedures, the rules of interaction between business, government bodies and American partners, as well as the conditions for implementing projects in the fields of subsoil use, infrastructure, energy and high technologies.

In the long run, the restoration of exploration is expected to support the economy and the country’s energy security, providing new opportunities for the development of the industrial sector and infrastructure.
