Ukrainian Air Defense Neutralizes 478 Enemy Targets in October 5 Attack

As of 14:00, the air defense has destroyed or neutralized 478 enemy targets: 439 drones, 32 Kh-101/Iskander-K missiles, six Kalibr missiles, and one air-launched ballistic missile “Kinzhal”. The Ukrainian Air Forces reported these figures.

During the night of October 5, Russia attacked Ukrainian territory with kamikaze drones and missiles from air, sea, and land bases. In total, Ukrainian forces recorded 549 Russian air-attack assets.

Timeline of events and regional consequences

In almost half of the cases, the targets were Shahed and Gerbera attack drones, as well as Kalibr missiles, Kh-101/Iskander-K, and “Kinzhal”.

Direct hits were recorded on eight missiles and 57 drones in 20 settlements, and debris fell in six locations.

The main direction of the attacks was the Lviv region. It is also known that that night Poland scrambled aircraft to defend its airspace.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, that night the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad regions were affected. According to preliminary data, five people were killed, and about ten more were injured.

In the aftermath of the attack, infrastructure restoration and mitigation of the consequences continue: specialists are working on localizing the damage to quickly restore stability and minimize risks to the population.
