During the inspection of a minibus heading to Romania, Transcarpathian border guards discovered an impressive collection of historical postcards and postage stamps dating back to the early 20th century. This find became a real sensation for law enforcement officers.

A total of about 450 postcards and stamps were seized, dating from the period between 1914 and 1918. These items hold significant cultural and historical value, highlighting their importance to the national heritage, as noted by representatives of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The collection has now been sent for examination, where its origin will be determined and its value assessed. The seizure of such artifacts is an important step in combating the illegal export of cultural valuables beyond the country’s borders.

Border guards, together with customs officers, continue to strengthen border controls to detect similar cases and protect historical artifacts from illegal export.
