As reported by the online media Ukrinform.
Thanks to arrangements between the Embassy of Ukraine in Montenegro and the City of Kotor, a group of 36 children from Zaporizhzhia region arrived for a holiday in Montenegro, many of whom lost their parents due to Russian aggression.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Montenegro told Ukrinform about this.
The stay of the Ukrainian guests in Kotor lasts from November 3 to 10. The children from the frontline region were ceremonially welcomed at the Bizanti Palace by the Mayor of Kotor, Vladimir Jokic, and other representatives of the local authorities.
“I wish that Kotor would become a second home for you – a place where there are friends, where you can relax and for at least a moment forget the hard days… You are always welcome guests in our city”
Program of the stay and guests’ impressions
Guests were entertained and introduced to the region’s culture: they were offered visits to the Old Town, Perast, a boat trip around the bay, and a climb up Lovćen. Also planned were meetings with local schoolchildren, which will allow the children, through joint activities, to feel the city’s atmosphere.
The teachers accompanying the group expressed sincere gratitude for the hospitality.
“The sea we once had is now out of reach for us. The children are delighted by the beauty of nature, by the friendly people and the attention they feel at every step. We sincerely thank you for giving them the opportunity to rest, smile, and feel the warmth of your city”
As a token of gratitude, Ukrainian children presented Mayor Jokic with a national flag bearing their own signatures and wishes for peace.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Montenegro noted that it regularly supports the health and well-being of children from vulnerable categories and frontline territories across various municipalities in the country.
As a reminder, there was an excursion to the historic town of Kotor and the Maritime Museum of Montenegro for a group of Ukrainian children.
