According to the online media Suspilne.

The High Anti-Corruption Court (VAKS) has ordered preventive detention for Energoatom’s security executive Ihor Fursenko until January 8, with the possibility to post bail of 95 million hryvnias. He is a figure in a case of alleged corruption in the energy sector.

The court’s decision was announced from the courtroom.

According to investigators, Fursenko performed the duties of the back-office accountant handling money laundering. In the so-called NABU tapes, Fursenko is nicknamed “Ryoshik.”

Fursenko’s lawyers Mark Gerasimenko and Roman Petriv said they would file an appeal. Both declined to comment.

Parties’ Reactions and Case Prospects

The suspect himself said there is no money to post bail.

In his statement, Fursenko noted that not all the money found at his home belongs to him. Some of it is funds for treating his parents, who are suffering from cancer.

He also said that in the transfer bags filmed by NABU there were not money but bottles of wine, because that is allegedly what he handles.

The case remains under investigation; details emerge as new information becomes available.
