The Ukrainian épée fencer Alina Polozyuk finished second in the bronze category at the Satellite FIE competition held in Sabadell, Spain.
According to the press service of the National Fencing Federation of Ukraine, Alina won all six of her bouts in the group round.
Satellite FIE Tournament in Sabadell
In the group stage, Polozyuk demonstrated exceptional form, winning all of her bouts.
In the playoffs she first defeated another Ukrainian – Anastasia Sadiy (15-4), then overcame Camilla Mancini (15-8) and Elisabetta Biankin (15-9).
In the semifinal, Alina lost to the top-seeded Carlotta Ferrari (Italy) – 11-15.
For bronze, Polozyuk defeated Alice Volpi, while Ferrari finished second in the tournament.
Additionally, this is the Ukrainian fencer’s second medal of the season after winning the tournament in Timisoara (Romania). For the 23-year-old athlete, it is the fifth medal in her career at Satellite FIE events.
This result underscores the high level of Polozyuk’s training and confirms the consistency of Ukrainian épée on the World Series tour.
